Why We Started Making the Switch to Cleaner Living

Over the past few years, our family has slowly started becoming more intentional about what we bring into our home.
Not perfectly. Not all at once. Just little changes over time.
Like many families, we started paying closer attention to everyday products—things like cleaners, laundry detergent, soaps, and household items we use constantly around our kids and pets.
The more I learned, the more I realized how many products we use daily without really thinking much about them.
Starting Small Instead of Doing Everything at Once
One thing I’ve learned is that trying to completely overhaul your lifestyle overnight usually leads to burnout.
Instead, we started small.
Maybe switching one cleaner. Trying a different laundry detergent. Paying more attention to ingredients. Choosing products that felt like a better fit for our family little by little.
Those small changes felt much more realistic and sustainable.
Cleaner Living Doesn’t Mean Perfect Living

I think sometimes “clean living” online can start to feel overwhelming or unrealistic.
For our family, cleaner living isn’t about perfection.
It’s about:
making more informed choices
reducing unnecessary exposure where we can, creating a home environment that feels healthier and simpler finding products we genuinely enjoy using.
That looks different for every family, and that’s okay.
One of the Biggest Changes We Made
One area we focused on first was household cleaners.
When you have little kids, pets, or spend a lot of time at home, cleaners become something you’re exposed to constantly—countertops, floors, laundry, bathrooms, and all the everyday messes that come with family life.
I wanted products that cleaned well but also fit better with the direction we were trying to move as a family.
That’s part of why we started using more products from Melaleuca in our home.

Progress Over Perfection
One thing I always want to encourage is this:
You do not have to change everything overnight.
Even one intentional swap is still progress.
Maybe that means:
switching your floor cleaner
replacing heavily fragranced products
simplifying your cleaning routine
paying more attention to ingredients
Small consistent changes matter far more than trying to do everything perfectly.
Creating a Home That Supports Your Family
At the end of the day, every family has different priorities and comfort levels.
For us, cleaner living has simply become part of creating a home environment that supports our family well—along with gardening, homemade food, slower living, and being intentional with everyday choices.
It’s not about fear. It’s not about perfection. It’s just about being thoughtful with the things we use every day.
